ACUPUNCTURE & DRY NEEDLING IN PARIS

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a technique involving insertion of needles through the skin, into specific points on the body. The placement and number of needles are determined based on your individual case.

At Absolute Health and Wellness, our providers can provide two styles of acupuncture.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

TCM is based on thousands of years of historical use in Ancient China. The theory is different than western medicine, but it's still effective.

We have historical evidence acupuncture works, and now, emerging clinical research has shown acupuncture is effective. Research has shown objective changes occur with acupuncture. That means we can actually measure and predict how acupuncture may help.

We take your full health and medical history into account. With understanding your history and current state of health, acupuncture points can be selected.

Acupuncture points tend to follow meridians throughout the body, as depicted below:

Dry Needling / Trigger Point Release

This is also referred to as Western Medical Acupuncture. It's an adaptation of TCM Acupuncture. This form of acupuncture involves current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Dry needling involves the insertion of acupuncture needs into the muscles to help relieve myofascial pain and trigger points. Dry needling promotes faster healing and muscle relaxation, and is an effective form of pain management of soft tissues.

Dry needling can stimulate the central nervous system, peripheral nerves and reflexes, thereby affecting the muscles as well as the nervous system.
